Super Negroes and the Selective Use of the "Cape"

Pay attention. There are a lot of visual aids, and there will be a quiz at the end...(well, not really about the quiz, but there are a lot of pics....)

Ok so, a couple of things have happened in the last couple of days that made me feel the need to pull out my laptop and update my oft-neglected blog.

This happened:

I'm Not Crazy-You're Just An Asshole

So, in the interest of time, and to avoid my becoming irked (again), I’m gonna skim through a scenario, and you good people can be the judges of how it should all shake out….

Your significant other comes home from work. They’ve made a new “friend”. That “friend” happens to be of the opposite sex. Ok. Cool. Except maybe not so much. Let’s just say this “friend” has had several absolutely inappropriate workplace conversations about their nightly and weekend sexual activities, and has asked your s/o on occasion for relationship advice. Out of bounds right? But let’s move on.

Dude. I. Know. I'm. Getting. Fat.

Remember this fuckery?

Ok so, I don't know if you guys remember a few years ago, when Derek Luke (chocolate fineness) and Boris Kodjoe (caramel? fineness), were doing a press junket for the movie Baggage Claim, and the topic of "keeping it tight" came up some way or another. While Derek (who is either more media-savvy, or who was better prepared by his PR folks), declared that he loved his wife no matter what, Kodjoe went into some bullshit ass soliloquy about how he was married to his "girlfriend" and she was married to her "boyfriend" and they had a mutual duty to keep it together for each other. He caught some flack, but Black Female Twitter wasn't as formidable in those days as it is now. The internets moved on and let him make it. I did not. Cuz that was some bullshit.

Because Life

Y' is kicking my assssssssss right now. And I'm not the only one. The world has lost its collective mind, And it's...a lot. I mean, damn. The election....I just can't. Police shootings, shootings of police. It's fucking summer, so no matter what you do or where you are it's hot as Satan's butt crack. Clueless celebrities. Angry citizens. Marches, protests, joblessness. Bullshit jobedness. The fucked-up-but-supposedly-getting-better economy. Shit. For who? But that's a post for another day. I'm just saying. Shit is fucked up right now. And there's no shame in admitting that.

No Respek At All...

So, if you follow the internets at all, you know by now that Big Boi from Outkast is catching it from Black Female Twitter about this wack-ass, sexist-ass, bullshit-ass meme.

I wasn’t gonna weigh in (since, really, does one more opinion really matter?) But I’ve changed my mind about that, as this particular assault on Black woman/motherhood hits me in a particularly personal place.  First, a question: why do we never see memes about sorry-ass black fathers? Don’t worry….I’ll wait….

Recovering From Failure: Learning From the Fall

So there I was. Once again. A Black woman on the other side of 40, no savings, no job, no degree, not a whole hell of a lot of options and most awesome of all: no idea how in the hell I was going to make it.
